Our Story

Sidra ry grew out of a simple, deeply felt need within our community. Moving to a new country and building a life in Finland is a journey full of hope, but many immigrant families quickly realized how lonely it can feel. While trying their best to integrate, many parents and children found themselves feeling isolated and left on the outside of society. They struggled to find welcoming spaces or activities where they could simply gather, enjoy themselves, and feel like they truly belonged.

We realized that true integration cannot happen when people feel isolated, and we discovered that the challenges families face are best met with the warmth of community and the power of education. Sidra ry was created to be a home for these families.

Since 2023, our weekly Saturday programs and youth leadership workshops have been that vital meeting place. By focusing on whole family support, consistent mentorship, and learning together, we are doing much more than just running weekly activities. We are building a supportive, loving ecosystem where families do not have to choose between their identity and their future. At Sidra ry, they can proudly embrace both.
